During the 51st Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan held on July 28, 2026, Municipal Ordinance No. 2026-084, entitled: “An Ordinance Establishing the Maximum Retail Prices of Pork, Beef, Carabeef, and Chicken Sold in the Public Market of Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Prescribing Penalties for Violations, and for Other Purposes,” was duly approved.
The ordinance was sponsored by Hon. Luciano F. Manuel, Chairperson of the Committee on Public Market, Market Tiendas, and Slaughterhouse.
The enactment of this ordinance reflects the Municipality’s commitment to promoting consumer protection, maintaining fair and orderly trade practices, and ensuring price stability within the Santo Domingo Public Market. By establishing maximum retail prices for pork, beef, carabeef, and chicken, the ordinance seeks to prevent excessive and unjustified price increases, safeguard the welfare of consumers, foster transparency and accountability among market vendors, and uphold an equitable and well-regulated marketplace that serves the best interests of both sellers and the consuming public.
